Hidden Beneath Brown

Hidden beneath brown
      hair I am alone
   Hidden beneath brown eyes
      I have no shelter
     Hidden beneath
         Light skin
         Imprisioned in
            an image
          Wishing for
        Something better
             Anything
           Hidden beneath
           A brown soul
          Wishing everyone
          could look passed
             my exterior
             and see I am
              As soulful
                as anyone
               It's just that
               I'm burden
               With this light face
                my color or race
                  does no detract
                  from the many
                   tears no one
                    can erase
