Hibernation

I shut the door And drew the blinds Let the phone ring Every time it rang I couldn’t bear To play charades I needed time alone With the darkness Of my depths Rebuilding strength Thru the winter Of my mourning AP: Honorable Mention 2020 Posted on April 29, 2019

Time alone is precisely what we need sometimes. Well done.

Pull the covers over your head and when YOU are ready open your curtains and let in the light you need. Remember there are people who love you when you are ready.

My church friend died and I know her husband needs time to process. He is attending his previous church for now. Have you lost someone recently? I love what your poem teaches...for some just need to be left alone for a bit.

Just going through things and time alone is scarce these days. Thanks for checking in, Kim.

That's the way I prefer to deal with it. A well penned, "winter of mourning".
