Hi
Hi James, I've been thinking about you,
looking back on who you were and who you are.
I don't know if this will help, it's just my point of view,
but I can tell you how your life's been so far.
You were shy and alone through most of your youth,
as I'm sure you remember, likely better than me.
The sadness you'll have, I'll tell you the truth,
will not last forever as you will soon see.
Happiness and friends will come and will go.
It's naturally a part of our life,
but remember the darkness also helps us to grow,
so don't back away, confront your strife.
As you get older open your mind
and keep an open heart
for with unlikely people you find
new relations you will start.
Some will surely test your resolve
Some you will miss when they go away
but, all you will need, to help you evolve,
a debt you can never repay.
One will unknowingly teach you to love,
another will expand your mind.
The pain and sorrow you will rise above
and the peace you seek you'll find.
Each joy you'll savor and sadness you'll hate
but all you will need to become me.
Be it choice or luck or karma or fate
I'm not such a bad person to be.
Though I know you'll probably ignore what I say
on one last thing I insist
when your older brothers ask you to play
please, do your best to resist.
(The youngest and smallest of four boys.)
