Hey God

Hey God, you’re an awesome guy,
As you watch over us from the sky,
We know and honor you from afar,
The brightest celestial shining star
But what if you were one of us,
A mere stranger on the bus,
You would give yourself away,
Be it on any day,
By your surrounding blinding light,
Which has such intense might,
Just a visit one might say,
It would be a short stay,
So short that as soon as you appear.
You shortly thereafter disappear,
Taking the staircase to your home in heaven,
One, two, three, four five six, seven,
Realizing you have got to reset us,
A new start we need, you are all-forgiving,
Ever-lasting, ever-present, ever-seeing,
God, we know you want us to change
Throw our drugs and evil politicians away
Creep out of our self-destructing path,
For right now destruction you can only see
And Sheer chaos in its aftermath!

I used two lines from the song, not identical though ‘One of Us’ by Joan Osborne.

My dear poetry sis, your golden pen has spilled a thought-provoking and awe-inspiring poem. I just adore the title and admire the concept of your fantastic musings, both a plea and a prayer. We definitely need a reset here on Earth and your invocation of God's guidance is simply divine. Your conversation with God is glorious and so is your golden pen, Jennifer. Warmest wishes, love and hugs to you, my sweet friend.. ~Susan

A girl I was talking to once asked me, If God is so good why can't he love me no matter what I do? I said He does but God is Good Not Stupid. What farmer feeds sheep that don't belong to him. If you belong to God you will try not to do things that hurt Him. If you don't belong to Him why should He take care of you. Great job here my friend. God Bless, JB

Wonderful writing Jennifer, as an agnostic myself, I ponder god and the universe searching for answers, probably the same entity imo, I love that lyric you embedded in the poem, the whole song is fantastic, your own personal faith and outlook on a better life for mankind is palpable and selfless, for me it's so hard to reconcile the duality of evil and good, thank you so much for reading my poems earlier, cheers David

Yes, indeed, we sure do need God's help. The first step is asking for it, as you have... Then, of course, we have to examine ourselves, and see where He can help us improve... 'Taint easy, Gershon

Hi Jennifer, Your words are so true..... Not sure how the Lord will come, but we certainly need him to intervene, before we self destruct. Blessings, Paulette

Good question, Yes i wonder if he'd come in a blaze of glory, or a homeless person living on the street. Either way somehow i think we would stuff it up. But then there is those like North Korea, where their leader is God, with other countries following suit. I do like the drug aspect in this poem, that is our major problem today, when police stop a car and find a million dollars in used notes in the boot, stinks of suppling a demand. A poem for today Jennifer, it sure is.

Hello Jennifer ... the planet certainly needs someone to step in and teach humanity how to live in harmony. It's a very worrying time just now with disease and aggravation running rife. Your verses always give me something to think about Jennifer - Lindsay

Hi Lindsay, thank you for a lovely comment, I feel that God and all the Celestials up in heaven cry when they look at the mess here on earth. However, I heard someone saying on TV last night, why find another planet (not to mention the expenses incurred), why don't we just fix Planet Earth up. Stay well Lindsay dear friend. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Jenn, I always enjoy your conversations with God written in your signature style. How nice it would be to sit down over a cup of coffee and share thoughts about God and encourage each other in our faith in him. But we can do that through our poetry. Thank you for visiting mine and leaving such lovely comments, you are such a caring person. Thank you dear friend, blessings and hugs today ~ John

John you are a good and kind friend and It would be lovely yes, but our poetry is somewhat similar and we find faith in each others work . Thank-you for a wonderful comment - God it seems is one of your best friends also, how blessed we are to be able to communicate - did I ever tell you I heard God once, you might think that impossible but I promise with all that I am and want to be, I sacrificed something for a year so that my dad could live longer, and God said in plain English if you do that for me my girl I will heal your father. Hugs and blessings, Jenn.
