He’s in the Lead
Some people love hard
Then leave hard, too
Leaving a heart so scarred,
There’s nothing left to do…
But write a note to the heart,
Telling it to burn that bridge
Feeling like one must depart,
Leaving the past, in the past
Letting go of the well-known
To find hope for tomorrow,
Telling someone time has shown
That you’re better off alone…
Alone with the song you believe
Is a rhythm your heart sings,
Leaving pain that caused you to grieve
In the past, where fear sings…
No more fear, your heart will say
When you leave the past and pray
For the music to take you away
Believing this hope will not betray…
It is joy that you will know,
When you let go of the past,
And allow your light to glow
Rising up to a sky that’s overcast…
Telling the world that love is alive
And, despite what has been,
With God beside you, you’ll survive
Leaving the past in the past…
Where time will reveal
The strength you don’t feel,
Your frailty can’t conceal,
Jesus’ whose love is so real…
He will fulfill, His love will fill
All the empty space,
Left by anger and selfish will,
As you forgive what’s been…
You’ll realize His amazing grace
Will surely take the place
Of all the tears time can’t erase
Oh, His love is a sweet embrace
You’re blessed by His grace
Can’t wait to see, face to face
This love who took my place
Oh, with Him, I’ll win this race
With Jesus, I can let go of the past
Knowing that I have all I need
To get through – the lonely won’t last
Because I have Him who’ll take the lead
