Here-Gone-Fresh

Here–Gone-Fresh

Here
Are but
Children as
They meet the beach
Forewarned of rip tides
Suction at the
Shore eating
Their feet
Gone

Fresh
Salt air
Filling up
The boys’ young lungs
Crabs scuttle sideways
Seagulls fly free
Dive for fish
Tides coming
Fresh

Eve thank you so much for sponsoring this contest based on another of your artistic talents. It took me a while to see that this was not a photograph of the boys but your oil. The beach is one of my favorite places in the world...again thank you....:), jill

You do well with these succinct writes, right Jill? I find them more challenging, trying to encapsulate the thoughts within a few words within a limited form. All the best! hugs!

The first time I read this, I read it as fresh salt water, not air,and feared the worst. Having been caught in a rip tide once at Trivandrum in southern India, I am relieved to think we both survived. Brilliant suspense.
