Here I Am

Lying in a dark damp corner of the world Trying to find warmth in this place cold With not even the strength to lift my head To the passing people, I look dead I wasn't always like this, I was a bird free Flying swiftly, from tree to tree I had a life, happiness, and I had you My friend, my companion, my love true We built a nest with our dreams, and we promised to be There for each other, till eternity We promised to hold on, come rain or shine Everything would be ours, never yours or mine In this world of ours, I felt safe as a child In his mother's bosom, free and wild But you felt like a caged bird instead And love for you became just another word You rared for your freedom, to fly the skies solo Everything I said, to you sounded hollow You wanted me out of your life, our relation to cease And you said it without a tear, with so much ease I cried and begged, falling at your feet But you kicked me away and left me lying in the street With only my broken world all around me To pick the pieces of my life, and what was left of me So here I am bidding you happiness Wishing you favourable winds and success In all your efforts and may your dreams come true And may you forget that I was in love with you
