Her Suicide

Her Suicide

Her husband said he was leaving
The darkness crept into her soul.
Why had he been so deceiving?
Her eyes looked to heaven with
a tragic roll.

She did not want to live without
him!
So, slowly she went into the
bathroom and wept!
As she stood before the open
medicine cabinet, there sat a jar
of sleeping pills filled to the brim.
She filled a huge glass of water.
and swallowed one hundred of
them.

The skies looked grim as was her
imminent death to be.
But an angel came to tell her, this
was no time to leave.
She went and told her husband of
her death wish perfidy.

He grabbed her quickly and off to
an emergency room they sped.
She, already falling asleep, her
husband,beside himself in fear.
His young wife of twenty nodding
off in her new dress of red.
The husband only twenty-one~
wishing he had a beer, instead!

The wife taken into ER, having her
stomach pumped.
Far from a pleasant situation~ of
that I heard of in truth.
Her husband in the waiting room
as grim as the winter sky.
Now repenting, wishing she would
not die!

After all the retching in ER, she was
taken home and slept for days.
He had to wake her, feed her and
hydrate her, so she would not pass
away.
He did not leave her then, but did a
few years later.

Her life went on without him.
She never saw all the wonderful
gifts God had in store for her.
A profession, graduating Cum
Laude from university.
A time in the performing arts.
And best of all a new love and
a star-blessed child.

So don't be righteous about who
is down, and why you think you
are so much better!
Be a listener,do what you can, to
make those who are down feel
better.

Many are in a dark place when they see the only way is to take their own lives. Help is always there but in many cases it comes to late. Excellent write Panagiota. Tom

So sadly, true Tom. I once talked a girl out of jumping from a third story window! When people want to go, alas they do. Suicide prevention hotlines are everywhere and not used enough. Sad when 13 year olds do themselves in. thanks for commenting..xxx

Tragic and sad when a person thinks suicide is the answer. I know of 5 of my friends from decades ago that took that path. Life presents no overs when death is the result. Ive been depressed before, once to that state at age 20, with my first marriage, lucky for me that my faith stopped me(it was all that stopped me). People just do not know unless having once been there.

I never judge anyone who does that! But seems we humans go about pretending, oh my, how perfect we are! Nobody knows what's ahead. Your faith saved you. And glad it did. If anyone survives, I call them. Blessed, they move on withe grateful hearts. Life as you know, is far from as easy task master...too many righteous people with halos. Watch out! It may fall off! -)). Panagiota xxx

This is unfortunately a story that is true is so many cases. People do not have the resiliency they need; or the self confidence or faith in a higher power. It is sadly the way of the world in many instances. I imagine this is a true story. So sad.

I don't know why people do this. I have worked with people and stopped suicides. So, I feel blessed. Just accept people totally as is, even if we think they must live our way. Stop fixing people like they are cars. Each has his own path to serenity. Being loved is number one and once you have that, you can love others... Christ was born to save us not condemn us Panagiota

I've been down in the dumps a few times. I have also had some close friends take their own lives. When one gets to that point we ask ourselves...if only I could have been there, at that moment...to try to stop them. Sadly, the loved ones are the ones who ultimately suffer in the end. I guess when someone's in that state of mind, that is.. the least of their worries. Good write Panagiota. Hugs Charlie

Hello Charles! Exactly, in that state of mind, one just wants out. Leaving a grieving family? Their pain drives them to stupidity to see death as the only way out. I feel as you do, I wish I could have stopped them. Loved ones do survive the loss! Every poet here has survived loss in some way. Spouses, friends, animals, parents that are not with us. I will say to You what I said to Gregory, thanks for being MAN enough to comment. This poem goes far beyond monarch butterflies. Some of the greatest poets wrote about life and death. Being down is not an evil. Thinking one is the bluebird of happiness loved by all humanity~ good luck! ......We never know what lies ahead but with just a few loved ones, we survive. Tragedy is an everyday occurrence....... And so is happiness. Love, Panagiota
