Her Last Holiday -- Lei

Having been alone for Yuletide
On New Year’s morn, she stared outside

Neighbors were packing lights away
To place in storage, where they’d stay

For such décor, she’d lost her taste
As celebrating seemed a waste

And she knew well this was her last
Her heart belonged to Christmas past

Carolyn, I love this poem. I must admit I got teary eyed after reading it several times. It's so hard to enjoy holidays when you are down and out or feeling hurt. Great poem! Congratulations on your win my dear friend. :) Hugs Charlie

Carolyn, It is wonderfully made just so. Make no motion to grasp a future that takes this write to task. Our hearts, lost in memory, surely left to last. -Richard

Very expressive poem you wrote, Carolyn. A bit sad towards the end--as warranted by the theme.
