HER, INVERSE

With her...
Do you find joy where I feel only pain?
Are your thoughts of her gentle, kind, and pure,
While mine linger on what we can't be sure?

I’ll never know what she sees in your eyes,
What dreams you both chase, what love you disguise,
And though I will wonder, I’ll never find out,
For she holds your heart where I’ve been left in doubt.

Maybe you’re happy, maybe you’re free,
But I’ll never know how it feels to be "we,"
For in the silence of this unknown sphere,
I’ll never know how you are when you're with her.

How are you when you're with her,
Do your words flow like a gentle stir?
Does your heart beat faster, your spirit light,
As you share the day, as you share the night?

Do you laugh in ways that I never knew,
With a warmth and ease that feels so true?
When her gaze meets yours, what do you see—
A love that’s blooming, wild and free?

Do you hold her hand like you once held mine,
But this time, with a rhythm so divine?
And when you speak, does your voice get soft,
As if you’re carried away, lost in thought?

How are you when you're with her, my dear?
Are you the person I once held near?
Or is there a version of you that’s new,
A side of you that’s just for her and not for me too?

guess I will never know how you are when you're with her,
If your laughter shines brighter, if your heart beats in a blur.
I’ll never see the way your eyes light up with joy,
As if she's the answer to every question you’ve ever sought.

I’ll never feel the warmth you share in her embrace,
Or know the comfort you find in her familiar face.
Her name may taste sweeter on your lips than mine,
And I’ll remain lost, stuck in the sands of time.

I’ll never know the way you love her, deep and true,
The little things you say, the moments that ensue.
And though I wonder, though I ache,
The truth is something I can’t partake in.

So I guess I will never know how you are when you're with her,
And that silence will echo in me, a quiet blur.
But sometimes, not knowing, is the only way to cope,
To release the past, and cling

Do you try to make her smile?
Make her feel worthwhile
Do you look into her eyes
Tell her how lucky you are?
How do you make love to her, my dear?

Is it with tenderness, or with quiet fear?
Do you touch her like the sun’s first light,
Gently, with care, making everything right?

Do your words flow softly, whispered and sweet,
In moments of passion, when hearts skip a beat?
Or is there a fierceness, a hunger you chase,
As you trace her skin, lost in her embrace?

Is it in silence, with the rhythm of hearts,
Where every touch is a language that starts
A conversation unspoken, a bond that's so deep,
Where nothing is hidden, and no secrets you keep?

How do you make love to her, I wonder aloud,
Is it with trust, beneath the moon’s soft shroud?
As I question, I stand from afar,
Longing for answers I cannot impart.
Do you let her cry out, her voice unbound?
Or do you stifle each breath, each sound?

Do you urge her to move with a fevered pace,
Or hold her still, in a suspended grace?
Do you kiss her softly, with tenderness pure?
Do you make her shiver, her heart unsure,
From the warmth of your touch, down to her toes,
Leaving her tingling where only she knows?

I am surprised that no one has commented on this, Rowe, it is a beautifully written piece, longing for a lost love. Full of so much passion and emotion. I suppose we have all been in this situation, lamenting what we have lost. Nicely penned, I enjoyed the read.

Thank you for the nod. I actually re-structured this and made it into a song. Send me your email and I'll let you listen to the song. It is more evocative.
