Her image in her eyes: Request for True Identity
Her image in her eyes: Request for True Identity.
She couldn't write about her mother-
Her young womb a cradle
for a different form,
Was her brothers'
Memorial wall.
When she was born,
no rebirth occurred.
No resurrection
for the newly buried.
They were the Heroes.
The Glorified Dead-
The sacrifice of one man's
bitter inner war.
She was the shadow
living in the shadow
their gravestone cast
on living grass...
In war, a woman
will never replace
two dead men,
their potent strength.
Yet, in strength she bore
their tiny forms
as the scapegoat would,
their pure white casks
strapped to her Self.
And away she walked
across a desert plain
A lonely void
devoid of feeling,
to bury her heart.
The warmth she felt
was not compassion
or accepting love,
But a burning heat
that stole the moisture
from her tears
before they left her cheeks.
Still, she would not die.
In time became her own
Memorial tomb.
Tears turned inward
Preseve her hope-
The value of her Self.
She cannot write
about her mother.
Yet somewhere hidden
she holds a photo
Of her.
Holding my hand.
