Her hair brought too much attention
She had the loveliest hair, but it brought too much attention to her.
Shaquita was shy; she did not like people to approach or speak.
I will braid it, her mother said, but what can we do with your face?
People gravitate to beautiful people. You don’t have a chance.
And her mother was right. Everyone wanted to be her friend.
