Her Greatest Battle

Her Greatest Battle As she prepares herself for a battle, the likes of one she’s never seen! The great unknown lies before her. She arms herself with the armies of heaven! If prayers could win this war… The angels deployed from the prayers of her friends and family, and the love and support of those who have gone before. Her comfort drawn from a great faith in One who holds the key… The tests, the scans, the biopsies They threaten to bring her down. She cries, she questions, she rallies strength! As she prunes with all her urgency, the hedge beyond her door. She steadies herself with great resolve! This battle must be won!! She prepares to lose her dignity and independence too! To rely on those who love her, To help her get her through. She strives to keep her mind at peace, Through the long and lonely night. Where fears arise and meet the dawn And time goes slowly on. She waits and waits and the chemo starts on Monday. Soon she’ll lose her hair. As the poison pulses through her body To eradicate those dreaded cells of cancer in her breast What lies beyond? She does not know. What must she learn that this must teach? She does not understand. She’ll learn it quick and understand. Her faith will get her through! She’ll fight the battle and win the war. For there is no other choice. She prays for strength and grasps for hope. She rests in the arms of the angels, Far above the unknown! And is held in the strong arms of the One… Who has never failed her yet. She takes courage and strength, and love will get her through! Grace Daub June23, 2021
