Help Me Live On

I used to be different
So much stronger
So much more independent
My thoughts were sharp as a tack
I'm full of lots of stories and wisdom
Life for me has been long
Many years behind me
Somewhere in time
My mind has forgotten me
Every now and than
If you look into my eyes
You'll see glimpses
Of all of my yesterday's
Please be patient
Don't toss me aside
I don't mean to be a burden
Or a torn in your side
I need you to remember
Not just for you, but for me
All of our good times
Our cherished memories
I need you now today
To take care of me
The way I cared for you
When in my arms as a baby you layed
Please don't forget me
As I have forgotten myself
Love me and cherish me
Help me live on
Somewhere inside
I am still here
I need lots of compassion
And a loving hand to hold
