Hello January

Hello January, I see you've arrived right on cue
You always come when I am cold and blue
Your misty smile clouds my thoughts too
As I stare into your countenance of gray
I listen closely to what you have to say

You mention that you are the beginning of resolutions
And the start of new ideas and dreams
I toast you in celebration
As you unravel all my schemes

But soon those resolutions I will break
Averse to sticking to my vows
Your misty smile once again shows
As you cover my missteps with snow

You will leave me in a short while
And as I ponder what I vowed to do
You slip away into month two
Leaving me with your misty smile
And when you return, as I know you'll do
I resolve to be, cold and blue

Enjoyed your poem...making January somewhat palatable. Great ending, too. I wonder if May was the first month of the year if January wouldn't seem as bad?

OH I lIKES this one. It is a bit like my own, dwelling on the resolutions. Not much else to say about this awful month. Sorry, maybe you like it, but I just hate January!! This is sure to do well in the contest. The part about "you cover my missteps with snow" was REAlLY good.
