Hell of Thailand

HELL OF THAILAND

two men beat their chests
contest of very hot spice
the hell of Thailand

first man’s sweat pours out
a linen napkin’s laughing
vainglorious plight

eyes of number two
tears streaming grow big and sting
vein-bulge vanity

admiring friends
cheer and jibe in kodachrome
racing pulse of weak

My daughters will be going to Thailand in November and I definitely hope they stay away from whatever spice that is lol!

Well all three are going so if the spices don't get them I'm sure they'll take each other out lol! You'd think it would be easier being that they're all in their 20s but nope.

Very descriptive, Kim. A popular contest which could have tragic consequences, as we saw this week in the news. I love chilli pepper, but there are limits! Regards // paul

Hi Kim--you must have visited Thailand recently. Never been there, but I love their spicy food..the blend of flavors is beyond compare for me. You depicted the reaction to spicy food perfectly in your poem.

Wow, you sure get the imagination going here, Kim, love senryu's and i'm drawn to hot and spicy, but i once knew of an old soldier captive by the Japanese, and forced to work on the Burma railway, he used your title often..

Thanks, Harry, for all including the sad sadness of the soldier. My daughter-in-law’s grandfather was killed by the Japanese on Guam...
