A lifetime of work
taken away in a flash.
Only clothes on their backs,
and very little petty cash.
No food, or water, and many
already question why me?
But God always has reasons
beyond what man can see.
First it was the severe wind
then unimaginable rain.
The life they’ll now be facing
will be considered inhumane.
Others will give what they can
justifying to self they’ve been fair.
But all can remember daily
to hold these up in our prayer.
