Held Against My Heart
Oh, can one really blame me
for what is held against my heart
Perhaps it’s not what you may think
not what’s detained or set apart
But rather. sentimental glee
the memories of those I love
I cherish most above all else
for those still here and those above
The strength of steel cannot compare
to heartstrings’ standing, holding fast
For what can test the will of love
no matter age or time that’s passed
So often when the rain does fall
and when in kind, my tears may start
It’s then. that I have but to pause
and feel what’s held against my heart
