Heights

I don't like heights.
Height renders unstable ground,
the risk of losing balance
and falling.
Falling down,
falling in,
falling out...
Gravity only allows us to fall
in a downward motion,
whether positive or negative consequences ensue
is the foundation of the decision to risk...
Risk Life,
Death,
Love,
Rejection...
At any height the risk of falling
may be exciting and terrifying
but for me right now in this moment,
falling anywhere seems to be the end of my sense of control.
Control keeps me stable, focused.
If I travel to a height,
I am suddenly stripped of that stability,
for I cannot control if I
fall down in defeat,
fall in love,
fall out of love,
fall into emotional turmoil...
I don't like heights.

Another good free verse katie. But I know you don't mean it. Everyone feeds off of highs. Just like reading a good comment like this. Right!!! Charles
