Heaven Sent

fatigue drenches my body as i lie like a log sunken in wet cement too tired to sleep too daze to fully awake heavy are my old bones droopy are my eyelids weariness blankets my soul cold and still in a restless rest through slits of small eyes i see the shadow of death and feel the nakedness of his skeleton hand upon my clammy brow as my eyes ease gentle into enteral slumber BRIGHT LIGHT the clanking of a metal spoon in a glass bowl of hot chicken soup under my arms.two hands set me up fluff my pillow then spoon feed me warm chicken broth that vitalizies my senses my eyes glazed slowly open and i see an angel through good times or bad through happy or sad in sickness or health lowering me back to rest with a cool cloth on my forehead and a warm hand holding my own with a touch that connects our souls and a smile that is Heaven Sent.
