Notes About The Poem

Heaven and Earth

HEAVEN AND EARTH cherubim cheering, chestnuts o’er fire, plumes of heat in kin’s nighttime sleep, preparing the gift of peace — turtle doves for release. commanded, angels keep watch by moon, stirring breaths of child and their grownups. children smile, their parents groan, at waking up soon to piles of presents at bottom edge of blinking tree. cocoa and coffee speed process of ribbons and paper; joy reacts. 12/9/2020 Double Nonet Poetry Contest Sponsor: William Kekaula

This is a wonderful picture of the stillness of Christmas Eve, and the joy and exceitment of Christmas morning (and boy do we need that coffee and cocoa) I wish I could figure out how to center mine to look as pretty as yours!

The problem is I don't get what those terms mean, someone has to stand next to me and point at the screen before I get it!

wrap “center” in <> with no quotation marks at the beginning and put a slash mark before center / inside those <>
