Notes About The Poem

Then the Seer hears the voices of angels, thousands upon thousands, shouting, “Worthy is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain, to receive all power and wealth, wisdom and might, honour and glory and praise!” (Rev. 5:12). All that the world so desperately seeks the Lamb won, not by aggression but by surrender. That is the principle of the cross. It takes the weak and makes them strong. It takes our sin and bestows Christ’s righteousness. Out of bondage we are made free. Darkness is overcome by light. Loss turns into gain.

Heart's War

My heart feels burdened by the pain, the sorrow
Where there was once joy, there is fear
I feel the ache of my yesterday bleed past morrow
Where the light blinds as I shed each tear

My soul is lost in the quiet of a night in shadows
Darkness wars within as I tell God my worries
Some say it’s just life – that’s how it goes
But I know a Savior, a Redeemer who never hurries

In His word I find the answers to every plight
What I once feared, I now hold gently within me
Sensing He is the joy rising with the dawn’s light
Joy so amazing, I keep praising Him who set me free

My spirit is seeking the wisdom of my Hope
He is the way, the truth, the life and I know
Without Him, I would never be able to cope
And, it is His love that keeps this fire in me aglow

Beyond the darkness, where the forest meets the trees
I see a purpose for all the pain that lives within
What would I learn from a life of complete ease?
It is in the struggles that I discover love who’ll begin…

When I don’t understand and the hurt is too real
When I feel like a shadow who was shed by a tear
When nothing feels good and I just have to kneel
There is a promise – I seek Him with the Lord’s prayer

Please, precious Savior, come to comfort my soul
It is Your presence that can still the darkest war
It is Your love and grace that will make me whole
Even in this darkness, it is You whom I adore!
