Hearts Apart
With our hearts apart
we go through every day
still joined by our common bond,
a seed of love planted long ago.
With our hearts apart
we live through each minute
our minds holding onto thoughts
of when we will see each other again.
So many things try their best
to keep our hearts apart
to derail this love renewed,
but we know how special it really is.
And soon, somehow, someday
our hearts will be in each other's presence
once again for God only knows how long,
what precious moments those will be for you and me.
Our hearts have been apart
most of our lives from the start
of this soul mate love
handed down from above.
In a year or so from now,
if the good Lord will allow
our separate hearts will be together
having been tried in all kinds of stormy weather.
And we'll know a life
as husband and wife,
and for the first time
I will be yours and you'll be mine.
