The deck of cards
Flies away in the wind
Leaving those alone
Playing solitaire

I see the pain written on faces
I feel humanities disgraces
I can not play this lonely game
I run and hide from solitary fame

In the window, you see me over there?
I am not cold or in despair
I have a meal and more to spare
I hide from musical encounters, beggars too

I feel such pain
I feel the tears
Of that lonely man
He with no teeth, in sleet and rain

Me even worse off, heartless and slain

Solitaire is indeed a lonely game

Hey Arthur: This was a really touching, yet lonely piece. You have such compassion for the downtrodden and it shows in your writing. "He with no teeth, in sleet and rain Me even worse off, heartless and slain" You acknowledge that those that are spiritually lost, though with a roof over their head is much worse than those who are homeless, but have their hearts in the right places. Beautiful and original metaphor in the first stanza. A fave from me.

Timothy there is no finer compliment than when someone with whom I respect says such kinds words. I fear my actions do not always follow my words, maybe thats why I seek solace and forgiveness in the words I write.

Dear Arthur Another sad gem today, but worthy of a bravo also, it's a sad reality, when one is in a room full of people and yet you are totally alone. I've been their my friend, love the poem, but I hope things get batter on your end, but you have a way with these sad and dark writes of yours, cheri
