Heartfilled Devotion

You were born with a hole through your heart Somehow you managed to live this long Has it had time to grow back yet You were born with emotions Where have they all gone Did you have your heart stolen Or did you just leave it behind A hole in your heart, how do you breath You showed me how to live alone The universe was unprepared to give you a backbone So you stole one to lean on, to create your own You stole the hearts around you to learn how they work Do you have one now, is it strong enough yet Doesn't have to beat alone, let me in so I can give you mine You're stuck in my head, and stuck in my heart I have enough to lend you, so let me through Let me through the barricade you use as a ribcage I know your heart is big enough I want to help it beat again Let me see you smile sincerely No more pretending that nobody hears it Because I hear it, your heart is beating Your tear ducts are bleeding And I can see your backbone is strong enough Strong enough to keep you alive
