Heartbreak

I held you so closely in my arms, Still you managed to evade my heart, Struggling to save this world from harm, Instead I was burnt alive and torn apart. Delicate flesh cooking upon my bones, Crispy tender and yet delicate moist, Imprisoned within my own home, Lost without any voice. I sheltered deep amidst my fears, Within toxic clouds of black anxiety, Drowning within deep pools of tears, Struggling against my sacrificial liberty. Fighting daily against the reaper's urge, To penetrate through my pale layer, Where only the darkest evil lurks, Unabated by the Lord's Prayer. This putrid oil of my soul, Slowly ebb and drifts away, Recessing back into a deep hole, Where you know I shall obey. Ushering back the tide of life, Translucent like deep still water, Washing away any remaining fight, ‘Till my artist of desire is slaughtered. There I shall remain forever, Drifting hopelessly upon dead seas, Surging against the stormy weather, Being swept away from my destiny. Till swirling currents' of cruel fate, Shipwreck me upon your beach, A gentle snap of my heartbreak, Within your arms yet out of reach. (c) 2016 PJ Bayliss
