Heartbreak
Sometimes heart break
Is the most addictive
Self inflicted lashes
You know what hurts
How to fix it
But you chase the hurt anyway
Dig deep in the ground
And find it there
In waiting and you nurse it
Feed it your tears
Chastise it with looks
That makes it feel sacred
Like its purpose was
To spread its roots
Down there
Like a virus
Build down to your soul
Sit there heavy, and sink your heart
Down the bottle of vodka
Wondering why tomorrow
Would even bother coming around
When yesterday couldn't
Sit around long enough
When you are this broken
But you feed the wound anyway
Because sometimes pain
Beats the thrill of a first kiss
