Heartbeat
Did you hear it?
That momentary pause in time
somewhere
between the seconds ticking away
a sound
lost in the hollowed echoes
of the heart beat;
suddenly stilled,
hesitating
for just that brief minute
then beating
loud and fast,
quickening both pulse and breath.
There it was.
You heard it too?
Didn't you?
It was the moment
that we met,
the very second
we fell in love
forever.
