Heartbeat

Rhythmic procession as to a band
I'm sure it's in succession grand
I can't feel it but I'm sure it gains
I notice it pulsating in our veins
stifled as it may seem to you
still you perceive this is true
I'm glad you do for I'm in bondage
as a prisoner would live with that knowledge
when I'm not sure that I'm en-route
slow and steady you figured me out
deep inside I understand you also
you recognize this and I respect that so
it's wonderful to be aware of this feat
and I'm glad we share the same heartbeat
