Heartache
Wave after wave go through my chest,
of pain as I remember with utter regret
the day that I met your treacherous self.
And now I regard you with no respect.
My heart bleeds, rivers and oceans of pain.
Salty waves crashing again and again.
Could it be my life’s blood draining away?
To love you I would be a fool once again.
My head leans forward bent over in shame
as I remember when people had warned me of your games.
I had laughed and told them that by my love you were tame.
Oh how I’d bragged on and on with your name.
Then you my tame lion, turned suddenly to bite me.
And the people had nothing to do but laugh at me.
Now sad dreams and sleepless nights haunt and taunt me.
And waves of pain come crashing and drown me.
