Heartache
A subtle reminder
Your presence that lingers
Never quite leaving
Memories stirred
Like a looming shadow
Or a lone cloud in the sky
Won't leave me alone
Brushing up against my mind
Coming then going
Back and again
So easy for you it seems
Dizzy emotions, makes my
head spin
Desperate to banish you
From every corner of my heart
But you keep coming back
I let you, and that's the worst
part
No matter how hard I try
I can't let you escape
I'm drawn to you, irresistible
No going back, far beyond too
late
My heart follows a rhythm
My head can never understand
No amount of pain or loss
Will keep you banned
So I will try again and again
To keep you at a distance
Cant have you so close
Walls for protection, resistance
With every gentle touch
And soft words you say
My resolve weakens
So I must stay away
