Heart of a Bird

I have seen you In golden cages, twittering. The sparkle of gold In your eyes, you're choking. I know you, You are a beauty to behold- Your voice awes me, I wish to sleep... Not knowing what you say 'They' praise your chirp, Like the scream of one Is a melody to another. You loathe us, Don't you? You do! You don't. I know. I had seen your joy When you looked At that innocent boy Who healed your wound. I have seen your love For that inconspicuous, Insignificant human. You cannot have 'Humane' feelings. But your eyes sparkled In love, and I saw that. You flutter your wings And wish to fly. "The sky is a bird's friend." But not just the sky... That young boy, Looking at you, awed Picked you up From the forest floor. The king stuffs you With rich, costly food. So, you greedy! You fly away When the cage is open. But this boy He tries in vain to be Glorious and Extravagant, Like the king... He fails, And gives you just love Which you can't forget. So you stick to him, You hate the sky now; "Can't he fly?" You ask, You know he can't. Then one day, You fly away, You see his tears And turn away and cry. He stands on the ground, Trying to reach the sky. You are in the sky Alone, though with friends. The king sits there In his luxurious palace. You hope in vain, but still you hope. Let riches vanish, Let the azure sky and the humble ground be one.
