Heart Alone

Beyond the darkness scarred within
The heat of my light is growing dim
And all those that I could have freed
Have buried their hearts, because of me

And what it was for me to play
The distance of love beyond decay
All settled now beneath the sand
So far away, where I let it land

Come unto me my desperate pain
To remind me once more of my disdain
For all I should and could have been
Again in the sand, my forgotten needs

But what it was is all so lost
The light that grows dim is now the cost
As shadows whisper of my death
I understand now everything that’s left

This heart a glimpse of all that’s wrong
For all those I broke; for why I long
My heart and me forever gone
Together alone, as we carve our song

Compelling expression of true remorse, Ian. Fan the flames of your light and let love in again. Everyone deserves a second chance...and a third, and a fourth, etc. We just keep trying until we get it right. Bless you, Carolyn
