Healing

It was so very long ago
I remember falling
in love with you.
we were just teenagers.
The day was summer blue
I was sat on the dock
feet in the lakes cool waters
the lake was blue.
Your eyes were China blue.
I was black and blue.
Stepfathers are not always kind.
But you knew …you knew.
You said nothing
just put your arm around me.
I can still feel your
too blonde hair
falling on my bare shoulders
as I fought back the tears.
Your eyes so blue like pools
looked into mine
and you kissed my forehead.
I needed to speak in beautiful
loving poetry to you
but I was silent.
my confidence drained
My poetry faded
from my beatings.
But you held my head
to your small breast.
and whispered hush hush
it will be alright
you have me
you will always have me.
You healed my wounded life
brought me love and happiness
gave me a home
that one nature intended..
You are the fruit of life
that I bite into every day
to drink the
juices of its sweetness.
