He Was Our Friend

He just happened to be a dog,
we knew he was some kind of other guy though.
He took us for walks,
walks where the odor of
a brother and sister crossed his mind.
Fact was, he was a bit of a lad,
he charged ahead, he took life by the nose
and shook it.
He was our dog, but we knew
he was God’s little person.
Many a time
he let us know with a sly wink
what he thought of us,
but loved us anyway.
