He Said
He said I’d be hated by many
Even most,
Because I am led by the Holy Ghost.
He said I’d be mocked, scoffed at
At best,
Because my life on earth is one big test.
I didn’t write the words on the page
Why are you coming at me with rage?
I didn’t make the laws of the land
I just willingly surrendered my life into his hands.
He said to show love to my enemies
Because my enemies are in bondage
And I’ve been set free.
He said to wipe the dust from off my feet
Because when you’re living for love
Many quickly retreat.
He said to walk humbly before him each day
Because he resists the proud that goes astray.
I didn’t write the words on the page
Why are you coming at me with rage?
I didn’t make the laws of the land
I just willingly surrendered my life into his hands.
He said to drink from his everlasting waters,
Because that is how many will know I’m his daughter.
He said to walk by faith and not by site,
Because when you’re walking his footsteps he fills you with might.
He said he’d never leave me nor forsake me on this earth
Because the day I surrendered
He gave me his worth.
