He Loves Me

He says he loves her
For her, anything he would do
He tells her she's special, she's the one
However; there are others too

He says he needs his space
Yet, he wants her close by
She says, “he loves me”
She smiles, with a little tear in her eye

She tries to deny the mental hurt
Which only intensifies her physical pain
It's a desperate attempt to distort her reality
That's a manifestation of low self esteem and self shame

He continued to promise her the world
Eventually she had to face the dichotomy
His actions began to speak so loud
His words were troubling

He said he loves her
But he loves others just the same
Never let someone get comfortable disrespecting you
And you will live a life of less pain
