He Grabbed My Power

He grabbed my power
And held it in his teeth.
I was young.
Vulnerable.
Naïve.
I
gave
it
willingly

Having never met
a psychopath before.

Having optimistic feelings
about him.

I kind of loved him.
He drained my energy
stealing from me
lying to me
hurting me deeply

me.

I had to let him go
even though I loved him
for he did not understand love
and
I
needed
my
power
back
so
I
could
love
myself
again….

This was fiction, but for many women it is nonfiction. I wrote it in honor of so many I have met.

Thank you Line. I wrote this in honor of all the women I have met who are cowed by their men, and dare not tiptoe the wrong direction.
