He Gave Me a Quarter
He gave me a quarter
A small, metallic token
Of our friendship together
Not shiny and new
Rather a little worn
But worth the whole amount
Nonetheless
He slid it across the table
Asking me to place it
In my pocket
I plan to keep it
I never want to spend this coin
