“Keep the love light burning, whilst young hearts are learning, for from love children know, beautiful people grow.”
Quote- Poets own
He Gave Her a Book
Life wasn't rosy for Pearl when just a kid She was a sad and lonesome reclusive That could not have been easily believed Folk knew her home was bursting at the seams. Missing was love and laughter in the house No wonder Pearl was timid as a mouse Holding one's breath in paralysing stress Leads to anxiety and deep distress. School days weren't carefree she would truly say Yet there was someone who brightened her day A young boy who would always dry Pearl’s tears In endeavour to drive away her fears. Charming and comforting words Pearl's friend spoke Filling her heart with seeds of love and hope Steadily Pearl began to find her voice And many reasons for her to rejoice. They grew up and when school days were dismissed The friend gave her a book, signed with a kiss Titled "Finding Happiness After Pain" It showed her the way to sing in the rain. Pearl treasured her book until her life's end Then high o’er the rainbow she found her friend.

A true friend was this young boy who one day when they were older gave her a book signed with a kiss - a loyal, loving friend who just wanted her to be happy and become the person that that she finally did become.. Beautiful, i Had a little cry. Blessings and hugs, Jennifer.

Thank you Jennifer, this was in remembrance of a girl in my school class, a timid lass from a broken home and as for that little boy, he’d a heart of purest gold… Belle

Hi Belle, You penned such a well-written and heart-tugging write. I'm glad she found a friend that showed her love. The book that he gave her was such a precious gift. I found your entry to be a sad yet beautiful piece—good content and rhymes. Congrats in advance. Have a great day-Alexis

So sad Belle, all the money in the world doesn't buy love or happiness. Best of luck in the contest. Hope you're enjoying the good weather, long may it last. Tom

Lovely poem. I admire the way you write. It is difficult for me to use rhyme. You did it perfectly. Hugs.

Thank you Victor, I admire how you write in free verse form, that’s something I find difficult to do. Hugs, Belle
