Missing was love and laughter in the house No wonder Pearl was timid as a mouse Holding one's breath in paralysing stress Leads to anxiety and deep distress. School days weren't carefree she would truly say Yet there was someone who brightened her day A young boy who would always dry Pearl’s tears In endeavour to drive away her fears. Charming and comforting words Pearl's friend spoke Filling her heart with seeds of love and hope Steadily Pearl began to find her voice And many reasons for her to rejoice. They grew up and when school days were dismissed The friend gave her a book, signed with a kiss Titled "Finding Happiness After Pain" It showed her the way to sing in the rain.
