He Found Her Farm But Not the Barn Door

He found her farm but not the barn door he came so close to entering her barn door on the other side was his, once, loving rose iridescent petals yearning to be plucked he had come so far, to be so close he had passed the barb wire fence the barking dogs her father standing shotgun the five little hogs the chickens and roosters mama standing with her broomstick laughing birds and goats all the stops and bricks yet he couldn't get to her, to her when he spoke she would walk away her fiery eyes with coals of fire he couldn't get the sun of day he knew he was yesterday's toast he then left her farm, sucking his will on a long dusty road, he looked back at the farm in the distance, especially her mill connie pachecho 2/5/17
