He Felt Unworthy

He felt unworthy Unworthy of love Unworthy of friends Unworthy of community A walking apology Head down, sad mouth, shaded eyes Never validated Never loved Secluded from others Including a father he claimed to despise He never actually met him though.

Sad, touching poem. This could have a double meaning. I've read that people who've never known their father growing up are more likely to be agnostic and angry toward their heavenly father.

I had three people in mind when I wrote this, and rolled them into one sad ball of a person.

I had a busy day. Three and a half hour drive to and from my home town to check on my mother who had been taken by ambulance to the hospital. She is now in the safe hands of my twin who is a nurse.

Such sadness in the world. Duly sad, not facing down the object of one’s anger.

Absolutely. Anger is always initiated by sadness.
