He Drew Me the Stars

He drew me the stars
out across the lagoon
his hand like a wand
spread the wreath of the moon

  we leaned back like lovers
will do in the dark
content for the moment
to bask in the spark

   Ebony waves rose and fell
on the shore
I think that he whispered
the word "evermore"

  I treasure that moment
it's here in my locket
true love in my heart
and the world in my pocket

and if I look out on a world
that seems gray
I open my locket
and I'm taken away.
