He Died Alone

He awakes connected to a ventilator
Scared and afraid as he looks
Around the room, only
To see doctors and nurses
Surrounding his bed
His eyes searches the room
For family
Who’s nowhere in sight
He calls out to them
He reaches out for them
As darkness begins to cover
His eyes
A nurse grabs his hand and
Holds it tight
She speaks to him with a
Soft voice, she sounded like
An angel
He begins to cry, as he
Calls out for his wife and kids
He’s fading away
His spirit leaves his body and
He dies without ever seeing
His family’s face, he died alone
