He Died

He Died

My soul burns inside me
A strange mixture
Fires hotter that the surface of any sun
A bitter cold that would freeze a mortal man
Constant turmoil
Wars fought and never won
How many have died within me?
Dreams and fantasies left unrealized
Such pain
Such torture
Forces battling against each other
Ripping my soul to pieces
When the times comes for me to leave this world
Shreds of my soul will go to Heaven
Pieces will be sucked into the pits of Hell
Who I am will remain alive in Purgatory
Fire, ice and nothingness will be my eternal life
My tombstone
The only way I will be remembered will read
No name, no dates and no silly carvings
It will have just two words
“He died”
That will be enough for me
Just “he dies” and nothing else
Nothing else says what my tortured soul wants to say
“He died” says it all

I am so sorry if my response to Rhonda sounded angry. It was in no way meant to be angry. I do apologize if I hurt anyone's feelings

Rhonda, yes, it is entirely fiction. I have tried to off myself but that was a long time ago and thoughts of that don't even cross my mind any more. I just love living in my own private dark world that most people could never endure! Thank you for asking!

The comment very deep is painfully true! I have thought a lot of what to say about this poem..... Rob Taylor it is too late for just"He Died" for you have given us such incredible poems, stories, novels and paintings that have gone out into the world and that legacy is the one that really say's it all! I remain your great admirer always X Elizabeth.

Wow, Robert...this is tough to read. Very well- written but deeply sad. I hope this is pure fiction and not how you feel. I sometimes write from a dark place, too, and people assume the thoughts are my feelings. Not usually true so I never assume anything as the reader. Thanks for sharing. Rhonda
