He Didn'T Mean It

We all want the best for you We all want you to be happy So they have layed you out on a stone alter Sacrificing you for the better Arms legs stretched Looking to the heavens For a way out of this I am what I am I cannot change this Many times I have tried I promise you but this I cannot live without him Weather I'm happy or sad He didn't hit me that hard Look the bruise is almost gone He said he won't do it again You don't know him like I do He was abused as a child He only acts out when he's been drinking I promise he won't do it again Don't make me leave him I love him He's all i got I promise he doesn't mean it Today this hospital is quiet See mum my ribs will heal soon Then ill go home

I grew up in this enviroment and my mom kept going back to him. I was so proud when she finally stopped listening to his promises. Very well expressed piece!
