Notes About The Poem

Mr. Eddie Johnson, Chcago's Police Chief, was fired today by Mayor Lori Lightfoot for 'ethics breaches.'  He had been found recently out cold in his police car at 12:34 a.m.  Johnson admitted that he had had a couple of beers...

He Asked For the Axe

Eddie Johnson's neck, severed by the axe
On account of a few ethical cracks
   Found in his off-duty car
   Asleep outside of a bar
For a couple beers ~ politically whacked

Enjoyed this limerick. I never heard of this guy but I suspect it's something that was building up for years and it finally came to a head. Best wishes to you and family this Christmas season.

good limerick my friend...at least he wasn't drinking and driving...unlike the bus driver that was all over the news for buying beer and drinking them on duty in her bus... enjoyed :) hugs

That bus driver is the pits, for sure... But Johnson's probably not too far behind. (He probably downed more than a 'couple beers.' That was his side of the story...). ~ gw

Kind of strange don't you think? But at least he did it with class...he passed out at 1234. Kind of cool if you ask me. : )

Strange.... cool.... Ole Eddie always struck me as one weird copper. Not unhappy to see him gone. Smiles, Gershon
