Hawaiian Slack Key

It comes around again, and again,
it hits high and it hits low,
a steady run,
and then it comes around again,
and again,
it sets your toe to tapping,
and then your leg,
your whole body,
and then it comes around again
and again.
You can stay there sitting, analyzing
like some stupid mainland haole,
and then it comes around again,
and again,
and your reserve starts to go
along with the rest
of your body,
and it comes around again
and again,
it hits the highs and the lows,
it makes a run,
and the tears start to flow,
and you know,
that where ever you go,
when it comes around again
and again,
you wish you had never left,
never left.

Aloha my friend, congratulations on your featured poem. Mahalo for sharing us the slack key. I remember the time I lived in Hawaii. I miss Hawaii, especially, the POKE. Ernilando

I almost thought this was about hula dancing or a hula hoop; but I really don't care what it's about because it's brilliant! It makes you want to read it. Congratulations on getting your poem featured.
