Have You Ever

Have you ever seen a sunset?
The meaning behind the colors
That light up the sky
I forgot to mention that
A sunset brings twilight.
Have you ever seen the stars?
Look at them on a cloudless night
Do you see the past glimmer
In front of your eyes?
The endless abundance of space.
Have you ever seen a scar?
The darkness behind a single mark
Pain that they have experienced
Except they keep on smiling
Even on the darkest days.
Have you ever seen a child?
The innocence and beauty
Their eyes glowing so bright
Taking on a new world.
They’re imagination running wild.
Have you ever opened your eyes?
Actually took in the world.
All the splendor and agony.
Have you ever?
